Gas Station TV goes on the air

Gas Station TV celebrated the opening of its new Birmingham facility with a charity launch party hosted by media partner ESPN.

Mayor Rackeline Hoff along with members of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber joined the party for a special ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome GSTV to the community. Attendees were entered into a drawing to win one of two cash donations and a feature commemorating the one-year anniversary of GSTV’s Your Neighborhood community TV program for the charity of their choice.

“We could’ve gone anywhere in the U.S., but Michigan is our home and we wanted to support the local economy and stay in the place that has brought us the success that is still growing today,” said CEO David Leider. “With this expansion we have tripled our office space, increased our staff by 30 percent and expect to more than double our sales over last year; so we are really excited about our future here in Birmingham.”

In June 2009, Gas Station TV launched an original content program called Your Neighborhood designed to help local organizations generate awareness for nonprofit causes, benefits, fund-raisers and more. Now celebrating its one-year anniversary, it has achieved great success in helping spread the word with free advertising about local charities and nonprofit events.

Your Neighborhood is a localized media service that enables the free distribution and promotion of qualifying, not-for-profit/philanthropic events or messages across the GSTV video network and social media channels, including its Facebook and Twitter pages. By filling out the “Submit an Event” form on www.event.gstv.com, community members can create awareness for a local event or cause for free. Qualifying events are posted on the GSTV Web site, Facebook and Twitter pages and many will air on the local GSTV network. The total media time to date on GSTV for Neighborhood events is valued at over $1 million.
