Team Universal McCann Wins Gas Station TV’s Inaugural Beer Pong Invitational Tournament

Almost 600 New York Advertising Executives Partied All Night as Acclaimed Film Director Adam Hootnick Filmed Beer Pong Reality Show Pilot

New York – Strange, maybe. Fun, definitely. That’s what nearly 600 advertising industry executives said as they danced to the band Black Taxi featuring a LEBOlive visual art performance and live mashup by DJ Francesco, ate buckets of BBQ and watched Matthew Tornatore and Riley Scannell from Universal McCann win Gas Station TV’s first Beer Pong Invitational. Last night’s event, hosted by GSTV to celebrate the resurging growth of the advertising industry, will be talked about for a very long time, as the rooftop at Studio 450 is still rocking.

Acclaimed director Adam Hootnick filmed the tournament, presented in combination with BPONG.com, as a pilot episode for a new beer pong tour reality show series. “This was my first beer pong shoot, but it sure as hell won’t be my last,” said Adam Hootnick, director of the award-winning film Unsettled, as well as multiple documentaries for MTV, and NBC News. “I never knew the NYC media community had so much ping pong passion…not to mention throwing and drinking skills. Next year I’m trying out for the Universal McCann team.”

“We are very pleased with how much fun everyone had last night,” said Jason Brown, Chief Sales Officer of Gas Station TV. “It was just like March Madness with thirty-two teams competing and fans cheering for their friends and colleagues on the sidelines. The winners received their own official beer pong tournament set including a table, custom-painted live by internationally celebrated artist, LEBO. So we can only assume what fun will take place in the halls of ad agencies going forward.”

Here is a little of what people were saying at the event:

“There was a lot of great interaction between a lot of media folks…a wonderful thing,” said Jack Sullivan, SVP Out-Of-Home Activation Director, Starcom.

“The best rooftop party I’ve ever been to in NYC,” said Tricia Nichols, Pepsi Group Media Director at TracyLocke.

“Best networking event I’ve ever been to in NYC,” said John Williams, Partner, Branded Evolution.

“It was a gas!” said Jasen Kelly, Associate Director Shopper Marketing, MediaVest.

Officials from BPONG.COM, the official governing body of beer pong and the Center of the Beer Pong Universe, were on hand to run the tournament and award their prizes.
